Klassy Kruntry
- Jennifer Fais made a giant line drawing self-portrait on 60 sheets of paper.
- Next, she has mailed individual pages to 60 people, who decorated their square.
- They are returning their page by mail or in person at the event so it could be re-assembled every day during 60 Hours with the other pages into the finished self-portrait.
- Here's what it looks like.
Cake Decorating Contest
- (Attempted in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 12th).
- Folks brought cakes that had already been decorated or brought unfrosted cakes to decorate on the premises.
- Michelle Creeley won Best Cake Overall, The Folletts won Best Attempt, Monica Defendorf won Best Cupcakes, Kat Yeary won Best Cake Writing, Gabe Furtado won Best Frosting Color and Adriana Kramer won Best Use of Gummy Candy.
Lantern Walk
- Lantern walk technically occurred on the way to bonfire #4. Lanterns were made using little jars, cut tissue paper, glue, wire, tea lights with Sophia McMaster as Project Leader.
BB Gun Poetry Firing Range
- Pressly Dowler created 60 small plaster pieces to attach to a long sapling pole.
- Jeffrey Diteman contributed a 60 word poem - one word each to be written on the plaster targets.
- Under adult supervision, a group of us took to the firing range and the pieces remaining were re-formed into a new (and shorter) poem by Kat Yeary.
Blank Slate Mobile
- Werner Sun made a special outdoor mobile and installed it ahead of the start of the official 60 hours.
- The hanging sculpted pieces in the mobile were left white so that participants could paint or embellish them, adding to the mobile.
Tetanus Factory
- Amelia Fais Harnas & Sarah Foster emptied the Turkey Coop of its contents and then Amelia re-arranged most of said contents on the front of the coop to be used as a backdrop for projections and performances.
Holly Museum
- A performance piece by Kat Yeary, an audience was given a museum tour of Holly's room and life.
Secrets Swinging Sculpture
- Constructed by Destiny using bent and woven metal ribbons and origami paper with secrets that were collected during the 60 Hours.
Klassy Kruntry
- We took a brand-new hunting blind, and we painted a woodland scene on all four sides (see photo below).
- Thanks to Jennifer Fais for being the Project Leader.

Glo-Write
- Using handmade stencils and spray paint, sky lanterns were decorated before they were released into the nighttime sky.
60 Hours Radio
- Folks had a one or two hour time slot during the day to DJ their own radio show on Free Radio Beulahland.
- The show was broadcast on 88.2 fm and via outdoor/indoor speakers to those working on projects during the day.
Yarn Bombing
- Any and all with knitting or crocheting skills were welcomed and are thanked heartily for their contributions. The squares/doilies/creations that were mailed in were also seriously appreciated.
- Success! Project Leader, Adriana Kramer, pulled together a fantastic installation that now slows down traffic on County Route 24.
Bonfire Pottery
- Eric Holbein & helpers successfully pulled off pit firing pottery! This was set in the lower field and used Bonfire #2.
Hubcap Art
- The shop at Beulahland used to be covered in hundreds of hubcaps that Noel had collected over the years.
- With folks’ help, we re-covered the front of the shop.
Paintball Pointillism
- Bill Boland’s idea was to construct a large-scale pointillism piece using a black sheet nailed to the side of the Beulahland house & then shot with paintballs.
- The paintballs were a little runny, so a second attempt was made shooting from the front upper deck onto the black sheet on the ground below.
Rocks
- Bill Boland and helpers painted large rocks that were arranged in a special design on the side of the hill facing county route 24 (which used to be a gravel mine).
Fashion Show
- Sarah Foster & Amelia Fais Harnas rotated through ridiculous outfits, each resulting in an impromptu dance seen here.
I’m Gonna Dye-it
- We tie-dyed things different colors. Thanks to Sue McMaster for being Project Leader, and thanks to Svetlana Baldwin for donating dye supplies.
Plein Air Painting/Drawing
- Nothing fancy about this. Painters and drawers were welcomed to set up outside and paint/draw plein air. Bruce Baxter took full advantage of this.
Brick-making/Installation
- Using mud, straw and our hands & feet, we made our own bricks to bake in the sun (maybe the bonfire, too?). Perfect fun/messy thing for kids and kids-at-heart.
- With the bricks made, we could build some sort of pyramid or other structure as an installation. Other ideas about this project are welcomed.
Poetry Room
- Using the electric typewriter, folks sat down and wrote some lovely poems, posting them on the window for all to read.
Safety Room Installation
- Created by Amelia Fais Harnas in the small mud room off of the kitchen using all bright orange materials that she could find.
- Two improv dances were filmed in this installation.
Improvised Dance
- Sarah Foster, Harriett Meyer, Sam, Heather and Sophia improvised a short dance performance in front of the Tetanus Factory which was recorded and projected on the Tetanus Factory at night with an added layer of imrpoved dance.
Portable Friend Shrine
- Constructed by Pressly Dowler in the woods on the other side of the creek.
Glo-Write
- Glow in the dark paint was applied to a square of wood. Using a UV LED pointer, one can draw or airbrush glowing designs that eventually fade away again.
